He won successive elections as Councillor until the fall of 1991 when he was elected Mayor. He held that position until 1995 when amalgamation was announced for the eight municipalities. He ran for the Municipal Councillor position in 1995 and was elected CBRM’s first Deputy Mayor. He ran unsuccessfully for Mayor of CBRM in 1997 but returned victorious as a Councillor in 2000. He was elected Deputy Mayor again last year and also was elected Secretary-Treasurer/Vice-Presidents of the Union of Nova Scotia Municipalities (UNSM). This year marks his Presidency. He completed his education program in Sydney Mines and has successfully completed Business Administrative courses from the former College of Cape Breton. He has served on many volunteer boards including Resi-Care Association, Braemore Home, Northside Community Guest Home and New Deal Development. |
